ALADDIN'S CAVE,
NEW VERSION
MELBOURNE - An American radioscope - an
instrument something like a geiger counter - has lo
cated something long and metallic underneath Sav
ages Hill at Inverloch, 90 miles from Melbourne,
which may prove to be an underground vault contain
ing Chinese jewels worth £200,000,000.
Mr. Donald Nicholson
has been seeking such a
vault underneath Sav
ages' Hill for the past 15
years. He believes the
vault, constructed by his
grandfather many years
ago, contains jewels loot
ed from Chinese temples.
Mr. Nicholson has
been using a pick and
shovel in his search for
the treasure, but recently
a syndicate was formed
of three men who will
take over the search. He
has agreed to the syndi-
cate searching for the
treasure on the land
which he maintains is
his under a caveat
granted to his family by
Queen Victoria.
The leader of the syn-
ndicate, Mr. William Bur-
gess, said yesterday that
the radioscope needle
was deflected sharply on
Savages' Hill. Whatever
was buried there was
within 20ft. of the sur-
face.
The syndicate has suf-
fícient finance to con-
struct a road into Nich-
olson's camp and use a
bulldozer to shift the
earth. To-day it will
take handboring equip-
ment to Inverloch for
the next stage of the
search.
