GOOD TRADE
POSITION
CANBERRA, Friday.-r-The
value of Australian exports
exceeded imports by £62,034,
000 sterling, in 1946-47.
This is shown by figures released
by the Commonwealth Statistician
(Dr. Wilson) to-day. This favorable
trade balance reflects a vast Im-
provement on previous years. Aus-
tralia's exports to Great Britain in
1946-47 comprised 28.4 per cent, of
her total exports, and represented
a favorable balance to Australia ol
£4,496,000 sterling.
Imports into Australia of U.K.
goods amounted to £65,421,000 ster-
ling in 1946-47. Exports to U.K.,
in Australian currency, amounted
to £87,603,000 in 1946-47, compared
with £80.145,000 in 1945-46, and
£67,716,000 in 1938-39.
