ULVERSTONE
riREWOOD FOE, HOSPITAL. -
Supplies of firewood for tho Ulverstone
General Hospital have hoon exhausted,
and a critical position has been reach
ed. Supplies aro only sufficient'for two
or three moro days,'and efforts by the
Board to secure a further supply have
so far been unsuccessful. Tho matter
has reached a stato of emergency, and
tho board would bo grateful for any
quantity, largo or small, to soo the
institution over tho present crisis un
til arrangements are made for a regu
lar supply. It is thought that fanners
or woodgetters in tho country might
bo able to bring in a load or loads
at once. A member of the board said
yesterday that cash would bo paid for
wood on delivery.
STATE SCHOOL. - Tho contractor
has ndvanced building operations suffi
cïently to allow Grade 1 to talco over
tlie »ow room on M outlay next. This
will bo much appreciated.* 51 itch work
remains to be done to verandahs, etc.,
but it is hoped to have everything
complete in the near future. Tho in
fant mistress (Miss E. Hes) states that '
some children from thc kindergarten
will bo promoted to Grade 1 on Mon-'
day next, and parents should at once
enrol any new pupils of kindergarten
or Grade 1 agc. .. . . . .'.
