VICTORIAN WINS A.F.C.
LONDON, Wednesday.-Tho "Daily
Telegraph" says Flight-Lieut. M. C.
Baker, of Kew, Victoria, ono of tho
first members of tho B.A.F. to be
decorated for transport work, has won
tho A.F.C. for commanding tho "fly
ing nursery." He won the award foi
evacuating women, children and inva
lids from Malta in IMO «nd 1941 dur
ing the island's worst blitz period. Tho

babies crying or sleeping and tended
by tho crew of tho "flying nursery."
Ho transferred 400 people irora Malta
in six weeks, often landing or taking
off during raids.
