MR. BLACKBURN
EXPELLED FROM
LABOR PARTY
MELBOURNE, Friday.-Because
he refused to dissociate himself
from the Australia-Soviet Friend
ship League, Mr. Blackburn,
M.H.R., was expelled from the La
bor Party by the State executive of
the party to-night.
The leaguo was banned by tho execu
tive some time ago, and the ban was
confirmed by tho Federal executive of the
A.L.P. in Sydney a fortnight ago.
Thc Primo Minister-elect (Mr. Cur
tin) will he informed of Mr. Black
burn's expulsion. Mr. Blackburn will
not bo eligible to attend the Labor Cau
cus meeting in Canberra on Mondoy,
when the personnel of the Curtin Min
istry will bo elected.
Tho executive decided that other
members of tho party whoso names ap
pear on leaflets issued by tho league
should bc given seven days to advise
that they aro not "at'tho dato of their
reply members of tho league." Failing
receipt o£ a favorable reply, they will
be cxpoi'ed from tho party.
