'Pack Up Your Troubles'
When Jane Withers stars in ono of
her own comedies the' bflurinus shen
anigans that occur are usua'.y' pretty
tough on the props and furniture. The
same thins jroes. only three times more
so, for a Ritz Brothers picture, for this
of an ordered existence. With Jane
and Ritzes together in 'Pack Up Your
Troubles,' screening to-night, there is
a riot that reaches clear across the
Atlantic. .Ta'ne,*s the bravest Ma'am
selle in all France and the Ritzes are
in the army — privates in n mule bat
talion in the A.E.F. Lynn Bari.
Joseph Schildkraut. Stanley Fields.
Fritz Leiber and Lionel Royce are
included in the cast.
'Fingers'
In 'Fingers,' screening to-night, the
story telis of a society butterfly who
meets a charming yet dangerous under
world identity, 'Fingers' Morgan. He
is dazzled by the girl's wealthy and
cultured upbringing, while she sees in
him a curious animal who will provide
rare sport for herself and her Mayfair
friends. 'Fingers' attempts the diffi
cult job of making a human silk purse
out of the proverbial sow'.s ear and
moves away from his shady associates
into a swanky apartment in the West
End. It doesn't take him long to find
out that the underworld, with all its
lawlessness ami umbrage has more sin
cerity about it than Mayfair. The
story is given force by the perform
ances of the players. Clifford Evans
and Leonora Corbett in particular, ihe
clash of hearts schooled In different
ways of life, and an ever changing
atmosphere.
'The Gay Vagabond'
Very entertaining and laughable will
be the farce, 'The Gay Vagabond,'
which will be screened on Friday and
Saturday nignts. A story of amusing
complications it goes with a merry
swing throughout, which is enhanced
by the excellent work of the artistes.
The climax is a most laughable con
clusion to a sparkling story. Such i
veteran troupers as Roseoe Karns, !
Ruth Donnelly and Ernest Truex are j
outstanding in the principal roles. A ;
bevy of beauties include Lynn Merrick,
Bernadene Hayes. Carol Adams, and '
Gloria Franklin.
'Arizona' :
In 'Arizona,' screening on Friday '
and Saturday and at the matinee on
Saturday. Jean Arthur is starred.
The supporting cast is headed by Wil
liam Hoiden, Warren William and
Porter Hall. Miss Arthur is seen as
Phoebe Titus, a lone white woman iu
the Arizona territory, who dreams of
the time when the land will be at
peace, free from savage Indian raids
and lawless frontier killers. William
Holden appears to advantage as the
casual young adventurer. In addition
to its tempestuous love story, 'Arizona'
presents a spectacular series of blood
stirring dramatic incidents — mighty
vistas of rich splendour, breathtaking
cattle stampedes of hair-raising terror,
awe-inspiring Indian battles and thril
ling clashes on the streets of -i city.
'A Shot in the Dark'
A mystery film that packs suspense
from start to finish is 'A Shot iu the
Dark,' screening on Monday, Tuesday
and Wednesday. It is the exciting
story of a man who pleaded guilts* to
crimes he never committed. William
Lundigan heads the cast as ji reporter
who likes crime stories and u certain
pretty night club singer, played by Nan
Wynn. Ricardo Cortez plays the role
of a stfght club owner who sells his
place to an old friend, only to find him
brutally murdered befoiv tho sale is
completed. To make matters worse*, a
jealous ex-sii'l friend of Cortez, played
by Lucia Carroll, is also murdered,
