FOOTBALL
GERALDTON ASSOCIATION
CLOSE OF PRELIMINARY ROUND
The preliminary round or the Ger
aldton National Football Association
will be brought to a close at the week
end, when two further matches are set
down for decision. On Saturday Rail
ways will h«» opposed to Eagles, whilst
the game on Sunday will he contested
by Rovers and All Blues. Both games
should be full of interest. Railways'
victory of last week has greatly encour
aged the team, which should be even
stronger on this occasion. Eagles hope
to field a representative eighteen, and
are confidently expected to render a
good account of themselves.
Rovers have been greatly strengthen
ed in recent weeks, and it is anticipated
they will play a fast and systeamtic
style on Sunday. All Blues, however,
have proved one of the most difficult
teams to defeat during the season and
can be relied upon to do their utmost
on Sunday. They have been unfor
tunate in recent weeks in having a
number of their best players on leave,
but most of them are now avail
able and Rovers should find them a
well bsilanced and fast side. The
resultant game is exj-ected to provide
one of the highlights of the season.
Tbe teams will be selected from the
following : —
Rovers — Haley (capt.). Dunn, Hall.
Ford, G. Chine, Heal, Hamilton, Mc
Namara, Squires, Byrnes, Ward, J.
Giles A. Williams, P. O'Dea, P. Wil
liams, Cruickshank, G. Oriddle, Hail
ing, Watson, Jeffrey, Rushton, Byass,
Sullivan, Walliss, Allen and McKay.
