THE MOSQUITO PEST.
? w ?
PREVENTIVE MEASURES TO BE
ENFORCED.
The Medical Officer of Health (Dr.
T. C. Boyd) reported to the Council
last night that with the advent of
summer the time was- now opportune
for dealing with the mosquito pest.
There was ample provision for doing so
in the local Board of Health by-laws,
part 1, numbers 54 and oo, and he had
asked the Health Inspector to have
these rigidly enforced. He requested
the co-operation of the Health Board in
the matter and suggested that an an
nouncement be made that the Health
Board intend to have them enforced.
The by-laws require the provision of
tight -fit ting coverings to tanks and the
application of kerosene every ten days.
The Health Inspector, who also re
ported on the matter, expressed the
opinion that . tight-fitting covers to
prevent the ingress of mosquitoes were
the best remedy.
Cr. Christie asked what steps would be
taken to enforce the regulations- Un
less everybody took precautions there
would be no diminution in the pest.
Cr. Bartlett moved that the report
be adopted, and an intimation given
that the regulations would be enforced.
Cr. Christie seconded and it was car
ried, . . ? ?
