ARRIVAL OFH. M. S. SAPPHIRE.
Her Majesty's screw corvette Sapphire,
14 guns, 1405 tons, 350 horse-power,
arrived in Gage's Roads from England,
via. the Gape of Good Hope, on Saturday
evening last The following is her list

The Sapphire's steam launch brought a
number of the officers to Perth yesterday
afternoon. She will leave for Adelaide
about Friday next.
Appointiients.— Yesterday's Chmem
ment Gazette notifies that His Excellency
the Governor has been pleased to appoint
John Forrest, Esquire, F.R.G.S., to be
Deputy Surveyor General for the colony ;
and Mr. James Monger to be Bailiff of the
Local Court at York, vice H. Monger,
resigned.
Supplying Liquor to Ihtoxicaxed
Pebsons. — Last week Mr. Win. WanUes, of
Jarrahdale, the holder of a gallon license,
was fined by the Police Magistrate, Perth,
in the highest penalty awarded by the
«- Wines, Beer, and Spirit Sale Act, 1871,'
for supplying, through his storeman, a
gallon of brandy to a workman in a state
of intoxication.
