BRITISH REPRESENTATIONS
LONDON, August 31, 11 p.m.
The London representative of 'The
Sun' learns from an important source
that diplomatic circles gravely appre
hend Jugo-SIavian military conjunction
with Greere. 'The fvi-in' renrpcpnta
rive is credibly informed that the Bri
tish Government was aware early yes
terday of Sigrnor Mussolini's intentions,
and vainly offered the strongest diplo
matic persuasions to dissuade him. The
position is that. the League of Nations
cannot forbid the Italian action if Italy
is supported by another power. The
Foreign Office is believed to be exhaus
ting every avenue of enquiry to ascer
tain whether there is any secret agree
ment in existence which might again
sd Europe aflame.
