Wᴇ the under‐signed, feeling in common
with the Inhabitants in general of this
Territory the highest indignation at, and abhorrence
of the LIBELLOUS Miscreant Incendiary,
and his equally infamous Accomplices, who have
lately dared by an ANONYMOUS PAPER found
in this Town, to disparage the Conduct and Character
of His Excellency Gᴏᴠᴇʀɴᴏʀ Kɪɴɢ, by
imputing to him motives derogatory of his Honour
and Duty in the Granting of Pardons and Emancipations
to several Prisoners, and thereby sullying
his Rank, and the discretionary Power in His Exᴄᴇʟʟᴇɴᴄʏ
vested by Hɪs Mᴀᴊᴇsᴛʏ, to exercise
such Acts of Clemency and Benevolence, which Li-
bellous Paper was ordered to be nailed to the
Places of Punishment at the different Settlements
by a full Bench of Magistrates, We do therefore
propose to raise a pecuniary SUBSCRIPTION
to the amount expressed against our respective
Names, to be paid to the PERSON PROSECUTING
TO CONVICTION the said Libellous Incendiary,
and his Abettors and Accomplices therein:
And although such miserably rancorous and
totally unfounded Aspersions cannot in the most
distant manner attach to Hɪs Exᴄᴇʟʟᴇɴᴄʏ’s
Character, not more exalted by Rank than Virtues,
yet that such Wretches as the Fabricators of such
Libel should exist in any society with impunity,
chiefly causes the setting on foot this Subscription,
to discover the Authors thereof, whose fiend‐like
Principles thus attempt to blast the strongly ardent
Hope of a number of unfortunate Persons whose
reclaimed Conduct in this Colony gave them some
assurance of being relieved therein, by the Exercise
of His Excellency’s usual highly judicious and benevolent
Extension to them of Pardon and local
Emancipation.
Port Jackson, 12th July, 1805.
And as the Sum of ONE HUNDRED and TEN
POUNDS Sixteen Shillings is already subscribed,
We who have signed the above Instrument, lodged
in the Judge Advocate’s Office, do pledge ourselves
to pay the above as well as any further sum
that may be subscribed, to any Person or Persons
prosecuting the Incendiary Author and his Abettors
to Conviction.
Sᴛᴏʟᴇɴ, on or about Sunday evening last,

the above Robbery shall receive Five Guineas
Reward from me, or in my absence from Mr.
Samuel Breckwell. ʜ. ʙ. ʜᴀʏᴇs.

Prices, for Wheat or Money.
