. RANGIIIKKI.
(From the Wellington Advertiser, August 3.)
The equanimity of the settlors was rather dis
turbed for thf- last week or two by the appear
ance of WiTako and his mob, who continued to
collect king's men, and drill them, for about ten
days, at about half way up the district.; ? He np
deara to be in possession of abundanco of ammu
nition, as he had several field-days, and expended
a good deal of powder. However, the settlors'
minds are, 1 am happy to say. more nt ea-e now,
as the whole mob h»vo 'vacated the district. It
was not witho'jt ro»son the settlor* were alarmed,
?a, on Wi Tako's departure, he' left behind
from ten to twenty of his gang for tho purpose
of capturing a European (Mr. Thomas Hill) who
hfcd accidentally branded a native ltd in Decem
ber last. The case was tried hy Mr. Turton, at
Msnawatu, who awarded 20s to the plaintiff,
who was quite satisfied. Lost week, Napier,
?hiaf of the K uatitha trihe, appeared among the
remaining nob, and requested them to depart
and not distarb th* settlers, and if they wish to
capture Hill, they had better do it on their own
irroand, n it was sure to lead to mischief.
Tha stttiers her* are totally nnproteeted, without'
ammunition, and at the mercy of the natives.
Holloaarft Ointment and Pille. — Damp
weather, diseataa of the throat. — Whenever the
atmoaphor* i« surcharged uith moisture, a vast
number of throat affbotions arise, which though
rampla at Sr«t, soon become complicated and
serious. Holloway*s Ointment, thoronably
rubbed over the top of ths chest and glands of
tbc neck, is admirably well adapted to eure nil
such complaints ; it penetrates, reduced the
inflommation, and curey without the pain of
swallowing medicine, which is a mntter of move-,
ment and consideration in childhood, when irri
tation begets fever, and increases the sorority of
every synipton. In quin-ey, diptheria, ulcera
ted sore throat and scarlatina, this Ointment
rubbed on tho skin, will dissipate all dangerous
indications, and conduct tho patient with celerity '
and safety to perfect health. . : fc.ivi.tn'ijsa
