At St. Arnaud (Vic.) on Saturday even-
ing a couple of youths desirous of remov-
ing the stopper from an old quicksilver
bottle, placed the bottle on a fire in a
blacksmith's shop. A few moments later
the bottle exploded with a tremendous re-
port. One end of the building was com-
pletely blown out, and a fragment of the
bottle was picked up 220 yards away.
Ths lads escaped unhurt.
