Town Planning
For S'dale
-THE Town and Country Planning Com-
missioner (Mr. It. A. Mclnnis) gave advice
on town planning at Scottsdale and Bridport
at last night's meeting of the Scottsdale
Council.
TTE said the growth in
these centres had to be
controlled, and not allowed
to spread over a wide area,
and thus creating difficulties
. in regard to sewerage and
water supplies.
He suggested that council
form a new committee and
said the Commission would
assist.
The Warden (Cr. Rose)
»aid the council regarded
town planning as very im-
portant, and steps would be
taken to form committees at
Scottsdale and Bridport.
He regarded it as inadvis-
able to permit any more sub-
divisions at Bridport until
toe town became more con-
solidated.
Mr. Mclnnis said the com-,
mission would co-operate in
preparing detailed plans of
Scottsdale and Bridport.
An indication that the
long-promised new hospital
for Scottsdale might mater-
ialise was given at the meet-
ing when the Premier (Mr.
Cosgrove) advised the War-
den: "In reply to your let-
ter regarding the laying of
the foundation stone of the
new hospital, which it is an
ticipated will take place
some time in 1955, I shall be
pleased to perform the cere-
mony."_
