THE FISH INDUSTRY.
The contemplated visit to Sydney of the
Minister of Industry (Hon. R. P. Blundell)
to make investigations into the fish
industry of that State has been abandoned,
or at any rate postponed. The bin finan
cial loss of the State scheme in Sydney, as
indicated recently by the Auditor-General's
report, was on Wednesday brought under
the notice of the Minister, who, however,
would not express any opinion concerning
it. 'I am not,' he observed, 'going across
at present, but the Minister of Agriculture
(Hon. C. Goode) will join the Secretary to
the Agricultural Department (Mr. W. L.
bummers) at Bordertown on Thursday
uight, and while they are in Sydney in con
nection with tiie wheat harvest proposals
they will, with the Chief Inspector of
Fisheries (Mr. W. D. Bruce), also make en
quiries about the operations of the fish
scheme and report to me upon their
return/' Similar investigations will also be
made into the industry in Melbourne.
