GOLD STOCKS ACTIVE
VALUES FOR LEADING ISSUES
ADVANCE SHARPLY
ON CHANGE
THE outstanding feature of business i
on the Stock Exchange of Adelaide :
this week was the exceptionally
heavy turnover at .much higher
prices in goldmining issues. Approxi
mately 164,000 shares were transferred,
compared with 47,000 last week.
Buoyant conditions prevailed every day,
and all of the leading stocks showed good
rises.
The upward trend was dne mainly to
improved prices for Australian goldmin
ing shares on the London Stock Ex
change.
Boulder Perseverance, which provided
turnover of about 85,000 shares, was the
most active line. Sales were made at '
up to 1/11%, closing at 1/11. These shares
were influenced to a large extent by re- :
ports that the new ore treatment plant
may start earlier, than originally expected
Wiluna Goldfields were also keenly
sought after, and values advanced sharply.
The market was beneficially affected by
news of favorable developments at the
mine. Other stocks in Rood demand were
Great Boulder, Lake View and Star,
Mount Coolon, and North Kalgurli.
The following table shows today's clos
ing prices for the leading stocks . com
pared with those of Saturday last:—

Great Boulder .. .:.. .. 2/6% 2/11%

Less interest than usual was displayed
in Australian consolidated loans, and
values for the majority of issues was
easier. Investments attracted fair sup
port but price movements were slight.
Barrier shares moved in sympathy with
dependent metal prices in London. The
markets declined sharply early in the week,
but subsequently values recovered, clos
ing slightly firmer. Due to rumors that
the mine would reopen shortly. Sulphide
Corporation ordinary rose sharply to 11/2
this morning. ?
