THE COUNTRY.
BURRA, October 8.— An old resident of
Kooringa, Mr. Patrick O'M. Lally, died
at the Burra Hospital yesterday at the age
of 75. He came from Ireland about 40
years ago, and had, resided at Burra ever
since. A grown-up family survive. Mr.
Lally: was exceedingly popular.
MOUNT GAMBIER, October 6.— The
adjoioroed. meeting of the South-eastern
Motorists' Association was held last night

At the quarterly ?meeting of the Metho-.
dist '. circuit on Wednesday evening the
Ministers of the circuit {the Revs. W. A.
Potts and J. A: Andrews) were invited to
rentain anorher year\ and consented to' do
so.— The firstiannuaLmeeting of the Monni
Gambier Commercial Club (incorporated)
was held this evening in the' clubrooms.
The President (Dr. C. C. MaeDonaQd) pre
sented his report, which showed that the
affairs of tlie club were in a flourishing con
dition, and that .there were 120 members for
last: year, and .'a number- of others- had

TEROWIE, October. 7.— Mr. and iliss
Watson,- who. are shortly leaving 'the.disri
trict to reside at Murray Bridge, were ten- '
dered a .farewell social in. the Methodist
Church on Monday night. The Eev. H.
?W. Jew, who oecnpied the chair, spoke in
eulogistic terms' of 'the departing guests,
Mrs. Watson had been connected with the
church and Sunday school for over 40
years. In behalf of the members and
friends, Mr. Jew presented Mrs. Watson
with a travelling rug. The Chairman's
remarla were endorsed by Messrs. R. Tuck,
W.. lioach, and S. R. Simpson. - During
the! evening, vocal items were* contributed
by Mrs. H. Pascoe, arid Misse3 Vera'
Walkington and Hill.
WOLSELEY, October 9— District In
spector Pavia and Assi3tant-In=pector Gart
rell visited the local public school on Tues
day and Wednesday, and examined the
classes. It is understood that a highly
satisfactory report has been recorded.— Re-
lieving postmaster .Wilmington and rev
lieying messenger P. Connell have' gone
from tlhe -post office, and the permanent
officers, Messrs. Ferrett and Butler, have
returned to duty.
