TOKIO, Saturday.
The Japanese Cabinet has ap-
proved of extraordinary military
and naval expenditures.
The estimates for the year 1941 to-
talled 4880 million yen. It is schedul-
ed for submission to the Diet after the
Emperor's sanction.
It will be financed by bonds to the
extent of 3997 million yen. Including
the recently passed 1000 million yen
supplementary expenditures for-Febru-
ary and March it means that extraord-
inary military expenditure since the
outbreak of Sino-Japanese hostilities
until March 1942 will total 22.355 mil-
lion yen. This is equivalent to more
than £1100 millions in Australian cur-
rency.
RICE TO BE RATIONED
It is announced that rice will be ra-
tioned when the household per capita
investigation beginning on February 8
is completed.
A pass ook system, will be intro-
duced planned to effect a fairer dis-
tribution on the basis of industrial
needs, particularly in the category of
labor."
