SOLDIER SPORTSMAN'S END
A Pattelic Farewell
BALLARAT, Saturday.
The death of Mr. Frank Stewart,
hon. secretary of the South Ballarat
(League) Football Club, occurred late
yesterday on Black - Hill, close to a
captured German field gun.
Stewart was president for two years
of the Ballarat centre of the Victorian
Amateur Athletic Association, and
chairman of the boxing and wrestling
sub-committee of that body.
He left a farewell note on the back
of the envelope of a letter written by
his wife from Paris as follows:-"The
old gun which I may have helped to
capture."
Mrs. Stewart reached Fremantle
yesterday on her return trip to Bal-
larat from England, where she mar-
ried the deceased after the war, in
which he took part.
