LAWN TENNIS.
Bv Baclcstoo.
ImDrovements at the Grounds.
Few members know how much time and
trouble the ground committee expands on
the problems of working the games in and
I improving conditions and play. Hours are
consumea every weec in tins manner, un
Wednesday it was decided to make Hip
clubhouse more attractive by doine away
with the gravel walks and substituting
lawns. This system is adopted through
out. England and America, when the
lawns sweep right up_ to the doorways of
the clubhouses, adding to the appear
ance of the grounds, and making the club
houses far more pleasant. Hedges trill
be planted around the clubhouse, and a
hodee of roses should form an attractive
addition. The question of providing
lockers for. members— a necessary improve
ment — was discussed, but no decision was
reached.

the present courts to the areas between

made to repair the damage which hns been
caused by the play on the surfaces now
in use. No practice courts or-2 vet r.vail
