MR. BLUNDELL. M.P. (Adelaide).
Mr. Reginald Pole Blundell, M.P., is a
native of South Australia, having been born
at Norwood in the early part of 1872. He
was educated at the Norwood State School,
and subsequently at the Sisters' School,
Kensington. He began work as an appren-
prentice in the tobacco-twisting business,
and as soon as he had served his time he
identified himself actively with the trades
union movement. Mr. Blundell has filled
every office in the Tobacco Twisters' Union,
and he carried out the secretarial duties for
six years. He was President of the
Trades and Labour Council for the half-
none Help
yearly period at the end of 1905, and dur-
ing his term was appointed President of
the Women Employes' Mutual Associa-
tion, formed at that time. He has been
secretary of the Drivers' Union, and assis-
tant secretary of the Labour, and Presi-
dent of the Richmond Democratic Club.
Mr. Blundell was one of the Labour candi-
dates for the Federal Senate election in
1905, when he finished fifth. A few months
later, however — on January 26, 1907 — he was
elected to the House of Assembly to fill
the vacancy caused by the death of Mr.
Sellar.
