TRIBUTES FROM ABROAD.
London, June 26.
The Emperor William \of Germany,
who alway3 entertained sincere affec
tion for Mb uncle, is profoundly con
cerned at the serious nature of the
King's illness. \
The Imperial Government at Ber
lin has forwarded an official telegram
to Buckingham Palace expressing ear
nest sympathy with the royal sufferer. -
German and French newspapers vie
with one another in the warmth, of
their kind references ? to His . Ma- .
jesty. The Berlin press remarked
yesterday that the British colo
nies were inseparable and indistin
guishable from the motherland in the
?joys and sorrows which the empire ex
perienced.
In the United States Congress yes
terday the chaplains of the Senate and,
the House of Representatives, in their
prayers, invoked God's blessings upon
King 'Edward and tlie United King
dom, and recalled Great' Bri
tain's sympathy with the late
President and the American nation
at the time when Mr. McKinley was
hovering between life- and death after
being *shot by an anarchist.
Tlie members of the Italian Senate
at Rome .dispatched a message to King
Edward, saying that they sympathized
with him in his trouble, and were re
joiced to know that the latest news
concerning him was more hopeful.
Signor Villa (President of the Cham
ber of Deputies), in a touching speech,
asked Signor Zanardelli, tbe Premier,
to make frequent enquiry concerning
theKingt condition, and to immediately
communicate to the House the good
tidings that all the members hoped
would be shortly received.
The German Kaiser. President Lou
bet of France, the Emperor Francis
Joseph of Austria-Hungary, and all the
heads of other European states, have
intimated their grief, and make fre
quent enquiries as to the development
of the disease.
