Champion Cyclist
Here for Carnival
First of the interstate contingent of
cycling stars who will race in the big
carnival at Wayville on Saturday
night, Bob. Porter (New South Wales)
aruvea in Aaeiaiae tomgnt.
Porter had his first experience of air
travel today as he flew by plane from
Sydney. His racing bicycle travelled
with him, but it had to be taken to
pieces as the wheels and handlebars
would not fit into the plane compart
ment.
By the end of a fortnight, Porter
will have covered a lot of ground —
both in the air and on the ground. His
program during that period is: —
Tomorrow Morning — Cycle about
40 or 50 miles on Adelaide roads;
During the week — practise on
rollers, as well as on the roads;
Friday night — circle the Wayville
track many times in competition
against Australia's best cyclists. -
Saturday— Return to Sydney by
plane.
And, to fill in the rest of the fort
night, he will set out on Sunday in
the six-day race at the Sports Arena,
Sydney.
