THE WOOL SALES.
CONTINUED ON TUESDAY.
ENCOURAGING FIGURES.
Woolselling was continued in Adelaide
Dr. Tuesday, when a catalogue was submit
ted by the Farmers' Union. .The same
features characterized the market as on
Monday. Operations of the various brokers

The figures for the fifth sale of last season
are not shown, becatwe the fixture did not
take place till the middle of December, and
in point of time will correspond with the
sbtth of the current season. The total
offered to date this season is 88,334 bales,
and sold 80,408 bales, compared witli 70,199
bales and tx5,684 bales respectively to the
same date last year, when only four
auctions had taken place. At the opening
sales this year ilfl pet cent, of the wool
available was sold: at the second .s:ile, 03
per cent.; .at; the third, 89 per cent.; and
at the fourth, 8S per cent. The percentage
on Monday and Tuesday was 98 per -.ent.
So far, 91 per cent, of the catalogues lias
been cleared, contrasted with !)3 per cent,
in ].Q04, Sfi per cent, in 1903, 89 per cent,
in 1902, 89 per cent, in 1901. 84 per cent.
in 1900, and 94 per cent, in 1899.
The South Australian Fanners' Coopera
tive Union report having held their iifth
sa'e-of the season on Tuesday. Compe
tition was very' keen, ?prices being about
the highest for any of this year's offerings.
Submitted 5S5 bales and *30fl sacks, and
sold 550 bales nnd all the tacks. Trice?

The members of the South Australian
Retail Grocers' Employes' Association ten
dered a reception and social to their Pat
ton (Mr. K. H. Crawford), who recently
returned from Knclnnd. at Brickncll's Cafe,
sn Tuesday evening. Mr. A. E. ITastwell:

thusiiistic attendance, and extended to Mr.
Crawford a hearty welcome back to South
Australia. They were all delighted to havei

Mr. Crawford said he was much touched
by the warmth of the recention which had
heen extended to him. He was glad to
learn that the association was continuing
to advance, as it deserved to, and hoped
that its beneficial influence would make it
self felt with increasinc; effect as the years
passed. Mr. Crawford then described his
ionrnev to England, and his experiences
there and on the Continent.
