CENTRAL BOARD OF HEALTH
WEDKISDAT. ACGCST 1.
Present - Dr. Whittell (President), Dr.

Tbo Secretary to tbe Local Board of Health
for Cowell reported the occurrence of two
cases of typhoid fever, and requested to be
informed what action ought to be taken. Tbe
President *aid advice was telegraphed aad
sheets of the printod instruction* were for
warded by pott. Approved.
The Chief Secretary returned correipon
dence with a minute from the Superintendent
of Public Buildings atating that in May last
he visited the post-office aud telegraph station
at Eudunda, and at that time the premise*
were not in an insanitary condition, and
then was no canse for complaint in regard to
any of tbe sanitary arrangement* for which his
department was responsible. Tbe President
said the correspondence arose owing to the
occurrence in May last of 6ve case* of diph
theria in the Postmaster's family. Tbere wm
some difference in the opinion expressed in a
Utter wiitten by tbe Poitmaster and the
opinion of tho Superintendent. He had,
therefore, tent tho Chief Inspector to report
on the premises, and it was found tbat there
was little cause for complniot. Adopted.
Dr. Borthwick reported tbe occurrence of
five c£»ea of diphtheria in one family at the
Dry Creek. Two had terminated fatally, and
the remaining patients had been removed to
Hospital. The house wai about to be vacatod
and tie soggontod that it should bo thoroughly
disinfected boforw being Main occupied. The
Secretary said the information had been sen)
on the Local Board of Health for Yatala North.
Tbfl Local Board to be called on lor a report as
to what action hon been taken.
Reports were also received of one case of
diphtheria at Jamestown and two at Laura,
three of scarlatina in Tine-street, and one at
Victoria-place.
Tbe infectious disease mortnary-book
showed 7 deaths registered during the week,
viz. :— 1 from soarlatina at Regent-street, 1 at
Evandale, 1 at Halifax-street, and 1 at Mile
End ; 1 from whooping cough at Booieroo
Centre ; 1 from diphtheria at Ono-tree Hill,
and 1 at Kapnnda.
