NEW SOUTH WALES.
Sydney, August 5.
A singular death of a child named
Ruby Kjelsberg occurred yesterday at
Balmain. She had been given some
oranges to pacify her on Friday, and ate
four, including the skins. She displayed
symptoms of illness last night, and this
morning she was found dead in her bed.
It is supposed that she died of acute
inflammation of the bowels.
Miss Nellie Stewart and an Opera
Company opened a season of comic opera
at the Lyceum Theatre last night in
"Paul Jones." The house was crowded,
and encores were bestowed most liberally.
Mr. Brownlow, though suffering from
cold, received a hearty welcome on his
first appearance.
