AIR BdARD LIKELY
TO BE ABOLISHED
Govt. Will Probably Invest
Control In Army Council
DECISION ON TUESDAY
QANBERRA, Friday.— When the Prime
Minister (Mr. Scullin) pays a rush
visit to Melbourne on Tuesday, it is ex
pected that the Air Board will be abo
nsnea, ana coniroi or tne Hoyai Air
Force wilUbe vested In the Army Coun
cil.
The present Government, it is claimed, be
lieves wholeheartedly in the improvement of
the air services, botli official and civil; and
their co-ordination in case of necessity.
- The Government lias decided that the
Royal Military College at Duntroon shall con
tinue ns before, because it believes that
Australia's defence requires at least the ser
vice of army and military experts who
would be invaluable in training an army of
raw or semi-raw recruits if the occasion
arose. ..
NAVY LEAGUE'S SUPPORT
The Navy League of New South Wales has
sent a letter to the Minister for Defence
(Mr. Green) supporting the Government in
its intention to .do away with the system of
?'Tuilsory training.
The. League contends that a sound, effi
cient and intelligent system of voluntary
training, with a bnslR of specialists in up
to-date military methods, would be far supe
rior to the Bystem which the Government
hnd the 'boldness and vision to scrap.'
