AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY.
B COMPANY, 10TH REGIMENT.
ANNUAL SOCIAL.
The annual soul of the officers and men of B
Company of the 10th Australian Infantry was held
in the non-commissioned officers' rooms, at the
Parade ('Ground, on Friday evening. The officer
remanding the company (Lieutenant K. K.
Baker) presided over a representative muster
In proposing "The district staff," Major Coghill
remarked that the officers of the staff were al was s
willing- to snatch from their busy Ines sufficient
time to attend such (gatherings. which acre an excellent
means of bringing the men and officers
together in a different manner from that of the
Parade Ground (Applause.) Australia was a
great country, and the privilege of protecting; it
necessitated much care and training. (Hear, hear )
On that account they were grateful to the district
staff for their unremitting attention. They were
'always willing to place their experience at the dw
i posal of the recruit. They were pleased to wet
some Major Luscombe. That officer had! his
anguished himself in the past, and they could
, rest assured, that the Battalion iron- make great
headway under his leadership. (Applause.)
Major Luscombe, who was enthusiastically recalled
said- he would always endeavor to do his
best for the regiment. He fought spare no pains
to assist everyone, from the officers down to the men
(Applause.) A good many people in Australia
did not realise what a great and sacred
that that of guarding Australia was
Major Hoffman proposed "Australia the land
we live in. Captain McKeevor submitted "nee
regimental staff," and Colonel Weir responded.
Captain llmthes (adjutant of the 10th A R ),
proposed the health of the chairman (Lieutenant
K. K. Baker).
Color-Sergeant Harter, Sergeants Spencer and
Painter and Whitfield, and Privates Tobin.
