Mr. Bruce and
Visits to Geneva
LONDON, Oct. 29
It has been questioned in Aus
tralia whether the work of Aus
tralia House is suffering because
of the frequent absences of the
High CoL..missioner (Mr. S. M.
Bruce) at Geneva, and whether
additional assistance is desirable
to enable the proper fulfilment of
the High Commissioner's duties.
It is pointed out that one rea
son why Mr. Bruce was appointed
to London was to ensure that
Australia had adequate represen
tation at Geneva. The work of
the League undoubtedly has made
unusual demands, but while in
Geneva Mr. Bruce is in daily touch
by telephone with Australia House,
and, in any case, the normal ad
ministrative work is Ti charge of
Sir John Mc-.aren.
