THE KANGAROO FLAT
MURDER.
A LONG LIST OF WOUNDS.
/ Melbourne, September 22.
At the inquest on Saturday into the death
of Joseph Wendell, an old age pensioner, residing
at Sunrise Gully, Kangaroo Flat,
Dr. Frost stated that the injuries included
an incised wound on the upper part of the
right frontal region, a contused punctured
wound on the right chest, two contused
wounds through the skin of the armpit, and
a contused punctured wound on the back of
the right hand. The right lung showed two
wounds. Death was caused by the wound
in the right lung, and the deceased lived
seven or eight, or possibly ten minutes
after receiving the wounds.
The proceedings were adjourned till Friday
next. The account given by the swag
man, Robert Searle, as to his movements
during the past week has been investigated,
with the result that any suspicions that
may have been entertained concerning his
possible connection with the tragedy have
been dissipated. .
