TESTING NEW HAWKESBURY BRIDGE
Six of the new 38 passenger-type locomotives weighing a total of 1,200 tons recently made a weight and speed test of the new Hawkesbury River bridge, N.S.W. The six engines, coupled in two sets of three-one set on each track-sped across the bridge at 38 miles an hour. To test the pylons for movement, the engines were also halted on the bridge. This second procedure is illustrated above. All the tests were satisfactory. Help
