LILA'S WALLA'S
STIFF TASK.
RICHMOND HANDICAP.
Form Horses Engaged.
(By "WILLOWCLIFFE.")
Lila's Walla and Johnnie Robert,
who fought out the finish of the
Fremantle Cup lost Monday night,
are down to run in the Richmond'
Pork Handicop, the principal race
at the Fremantle Trotting Club's
Club's meeting to be held at Glouc
ester Park next Saturday. Neither
started at last Saturday's meeting.
Recent winners, in David Dixie
and Master Whips ore also engaged
in the Richmond Handicap and they
should add interest to the race.
Master Whips has struck his best
form, having won at three of his
last four starts, in addition to win
ning at the recent gymkhana.
The Fremantle Cup resultld In a
thrilling finish between Lila's Walls
and Johnnie Robert, the pair fight
ing it out all down the straight, with
Lila's Walla reaching the post a foot
in front of Johnnie Robert. Dixie
Lawn was third and Franz Finale
fourth. All four are In the Rich
mond Handicap. which might easily
provide as thrilling a finish as the
Cup.
Lila's Walla has gone back 24
yards for his Cup win and he may
find it a hard task to concede starts
to the other runners. He won the
Cup from 36 yards and is off 60-next
Saturday. Johnnie Robert, who was
runner-up, has also been rehandl
capped, going from 12 yards behind
to24. The race Is a furlong aborter
than the Cup and that would prob
ably suit Johnnie Robert better than
Lila's Walla, who likes a journey.
In winning the Tablelands Handi
cap on Saturday, Master Whips in
dicated that the handicappers have
not yet got his measure. He was at
the rear of the field for the first lap
or so but at the bell he was fifth
behind Gipsy Tap, Royal Chatter,
Rohda Lou and Black Bertha. He
made a brilliant run going down the
ck stretch and at the leger turn
d the race won. He beat Gipsy
Tap by six yards, with Franz Finale
four yards away thrd.
The Leighton Handicap, which will
be run next Saturday, has a very
open appearance. Among the horses
handicapped are Sialla, who won on
Saturday, Arrowood, who dead
heated for first with Golden Heather,
Step Lad, an odds-on favourite who
tailed on Saturday, Golden Karr,
who won at his last start, Arabson
and Walla Lawn.
Step Lad was backed from 2 to 1
to 5 to 4 on for the Gascoyne Han
dicap on Saturday but he lost the
race at the start, when he got away
slowly. He gathered his field in
quickly and at the bell was lying
second but his early effort left him
nothing in reserve and he failed to
match the pace of the placed horses.
he did well to finish fourth.

W.A.T.A. Derby to be run on Feb
ruary 16 and 23, respectively. Interest
will be taken in the form next Sat-I
