ST. FAIRY.
IN FORM EARLY.
Rival for Tranquil Star.
MELBOURNE, Jan. 29.-St. Fairy
began his autumn campaign in a
blaze of glory at Caulfield yesterday
when, not greatly faelied by the
stable, he finished brilliantly to win
the six furlong A.N.A. Handicap from
St. Dandy and Delina. It was St.
Fairy's first race since he failed in
the C. B. Fisher Plate at Flemington
in November a few days after his
great effort to finish fourth in the
M?lbourne Cup..
St. Fairy's quick return to form
following Tranquil Star's dashing win
over six furlongs at Moonee Valley
on Saturday means that the .early
weight-for-age races of the aut
.mn will be particularly interesting.
St. Fairy will probably be one of
Tranquil Star's rivals in the C. F.
Orr Stakes at Moonee Vallej on Feb
mary 9. St. Fairy has now won
nine races for Mr. O. R. Porter since
he paid 4,000 guineas for him early
last season.
