GOLD MEDAL PIANOS.
THE THREE HIGHEST CLASS GERMAN PIANOS.
AWARDED GOLD MEDALS. HIGHEST HONORS.
"A MAGNIFICENT PIANO PALACE
' A very pleasant afternoon was lately spent in
visiting those lovely Piano Showrooms of Mr. William
Kuhnel, of Rundle-street, Adelaide, where
we were shown one of the finest displays of German
High-Class Pianos it has even been our good
fortune to behold. Arranged in TOWS were (at
least 100 different instruments, all of which were
in handsome walnut wood, some in rosewood, many
very new designs, and latest modern styles. Every
instrument in the showroom was of the highest
quality, and being specially built for this hot
climate, contained special iron frames,
iron - plated wrest planks, metal action
casing. The Pianos' were all overstrung,
and full . trichord. The quality of tone
these Pianos possessed was without doubt a treat
to listen to. First of all we were shown several
different styles of the World's Famous Makers,
viz, The genuine "Lipp"' & Sohn" Pianos, for
which Mr. Kuhnel has lately been honored by being
appointed Sole Agent for South Australia. On
looking through the latest records we find that
the Lipp Pianos have well deserved the. title of
"King of all Pianos," as they have won fame at
every Exhibition of consequence throughout the
world. Lipp & Sohn Pianos have secured no less
than 20 Gold Medals and Awards from as far back
as 1854, to the present year, at the following Exhibitions,
viz: Melbourne, in 1888 and 1889; Sydney,
in 1879; Adelaide, 1887; Stuttgart, 1881 and
1896; London, 1862 and 1864; Munchen, 1854 and
1855; When, 1873; Batavia, 1895; Chile, 1875; Det-
mold. 1581; Barcelona, 1888; Brussels, 1888; Charleroi,
1895; antwerp, 1885; Graz, 1880; Amsterdam,
in 1883. This is a record and speaks volumes
for the Lipp Pianos. Mr. Kuhnel informs
us that other makers are imitating
the Lipp Pianos by placing Pianos
on the market under the style of Lipp
Models and Lipp System. These are not the genuine
Lipp & Sohn Pianos. The public should be
careful to avoid having these bogus pianos palmed
off on them. The Lipp & Sohn Pianos have such
a great reputation that others are trying to work
on the name of Lippe As Mr. Kuhnel is the
Sole Agent for the genuine firm, buyers would
do well to purchase direct from Lipp & Solin'a
Sole Representative. Another High-Class German
Iron-framed Piano which attracted our special
attention in particular was the Favorite Pretty
Models of "Feurichs" (Leipzig). The Feurich
Pianos also have won distinction in all the leading
Exhibitions. Feurich has specially been appointed
makers to the Royal Court of Saxony; also
to his Majesty the Emperor of Austria, and to the
king of Hungary. The Feurich Pianos won the
Gold Medal at the Chemnitz Exhibition in 1867,
also awarded the Gold Medal World's Great Exhibition,
When, 1873; Gold Medal at Amsterdam, I
1882: Gold Medal Melbourne Exhibition. 1888: Order
of Merit, Brisbane, 1897; Gold Medal, Central
America, 1897; and also won the Gold Medal at
the Great Exhibition, Leipzig. Mr. Kuhnel informs
us that Experts have found it very difficult to decide
which is the better Pianos the Lipp or the
Feurich. Then another make that is very popular
throughout Australia is the everlasting Pianos
of Gore & Kallmann (Berlin). These well-known
makers are also represented by Kuhnel's throughout
South Australia. Besides having distinguished
themselves at various Exhibitions, the Gors and
Kallmann Pianos are being extensively used at
the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music; were used
also by Herr G. Reimann at the late Adelaide
College of Music for 16 years or more. The Gors
and Kallmann Pianos were also used and highly
spoken of by Herr Louis Carl Noessel (Professor
of Singing), Herr Gerard Vollmar, Herr Heinicke
(Professor of Violin and now used by Mr.
Bryceson Treharne, of the Conservatorium of Music.
