Adelaide: Tuesday, January 6.

Drunk & Riotous.— James Kale was ordered
to pay a fine of 10s. for being drunk and riotous on
North-terrace on January fjth.— StephmNoylcma

using obscene language in Weymouth-street on
January 5.
Riding on a Dray.— John Wind appeared to
the information of Sergeaut-Major Searcy for
riding on his bullock-dray on the Unley and
Mitcham road, on December 27, and not having
any person in charge of the bullocks. The charge
having been proved, the defeudant was ordered to
pay the lowest penalty of 10s. and costs; iu all
£193.
Hemaoted Cask. — Michael ' Mulrooney was
brought up on remand on a charge of baring as
saulted his wife, Mary Mulrooney. The defendant
expressed Ms willingness to promise not to touch
his wile any more, aud stated that he would leave
Adelaide and go into the country; but, his wife
having refused to take his promise, he was bound
over in two sureties of £10 each to keep the peace,
and was ordered to pay the costs.
Fuiuous Diuvi.vfi.— William Hanson answered
to the information of Inspector Peterswald for
having furiously, driven a horse and cart along
Chanccry-kinc'on December 2U. The information
having been sustained by the evidence of three
witnesses, His Worship imposed the lowest penalty
of £± and costs, at the same time cautioning the
defendant against repeating the offence.
Assaults.— Charles Chambers and John Scott
were charged, on the information of Caroline
Saunders, for assaulting James Saunders, in
Hindley-street, on December 31st. The defen
dant Scott did not appear. From the evi
dence it appeared that the defendants called
at the complainant's house at almost half-past
12 on the night of December 30, and insisted upon
being admitted, stating that they wanted to see the
landlord, but she refused to admit them. Her
husband, James Saunders, then went out by the
backdoor, and, having requested them to leave the
premises, he was returning, when the defendant
Scott ran after him and struck him on the head
with his fist. He afterwards received a blow on
the hand, but did not know which of the defen
dants had done it. The attendance of Scott being
necessary, a warrant was issued for his arrest, and
the case was remanded until Thursday, Chambers
being allowed bail onn two sureies of £10 each.—
John Thompson was summoned by John Burgess
for assaulting him on December.*)]. The defen
dant not appearing, a warrant was issued for his
arrest.
'Akbears of Maintenance.— William- Willina
was summoned by his wife, Eli/absth Wilkins,
for arrears of an allowance of 10$. per week ordered
by the Court, uinmiitfing to Z\. His Worship
having revised the account, the defendant was
ordered t-- pay £2 10s., with costs.
Mastkiw and Skkvants act.— Patrick dm wait
answered to the information of James Hart for
refusing to pay £ti As., dim 'to him for work and
labour done. The complainant stated that he had
laid 152 yards of paving at Od. per yard for the
defendant, and had also done one day's work, and
he liiul agreed to give him lCs. per day. His
Worship ordered the defendant to pay the amount
claimed, with costs.
