Central Music
Body Urged
By Examiner
Development of music in any
country depended greatly on
the setting up of a central au
thority or academy, where
leading composers and per
formers worked together, said
Sir Percy Hull aboard the liner
Dominion Monarch on Satur
day.
In Australia the conservatori
ums of music were a step in
the right direction, he said.
Sir Percy is returning to Eng
land after having conducted
examinations for the Royal
College of Music and the Royal
Academy of Music in New Zea
land.
He believed that the great
numbers of new Australians
had brought "untold musical
wealth" into the country, he
said.
