Newmarket Sales
MELBOURNE, January 3.
The demand for fat bullocks was well
sustained at Newmarket today, with
values from 10/ to 15/ above last week's
rates, although not quite equal to the pre-
4*%ristmas prices. Plain and middling
sorts did not bring much competition, and
were again dull of sale. Quotations:—
Prime heavy, from £i 3 to £25 17/6 <S5/ to
58/ per 100 lb.l; prime medium weights,
£20 fo £22 10/ (56/ to 60/1: prime M?Jrt
welghts. £17 to £19 10/ (60/ to 64/1: ate.
ful to good quality. £13 to £16 '?/ to S3/I.
Pat Cows. —Following last week's dun
sale, the demand was much brighter, ana
values showed an increase of from 10/
to 15/. closing sales being the best. Quo

petitlon was fair and values were about
equal to last week's rates, but middling
and plain descriptions had a dull sale,
with prices slightly lower. Quotations:—
Steers, to £20 6/: heifers, to £16 11/; prime
light vealers, 65/ to 70,' per 100 lb.: prime
heavy. 56/ to 62/' useful to eood quality.
