Britons Are Urged To
Forget Lounge Suits
London, August 6-Britons ar J urged to forget "stuffy lounge
Suits" in summer by "The Tailor and Cutter,/' magazine arbitor
of men's fashions.
The magazine says that
men should wear shorts and
open-necked shirts.
It added: "We have never
oeen able to understand
why the male knee, accept-
ed in Paris and El Adem
and all points east, should
become a matter for up-
roarious laughter in Clap-
ham,
"The reason Britons stick
to conventional suits is
probably because British
heat-waves are so short that
there isn't time to get used
to them or to tropical
clothes, before winter ar-
rives
"Another reason is the
fear that without a suit we
lose all the dignity appar-
ently so neressary to busi-
ness life.
"African chiefs probably
have the right idea. Clad
only in a topper, spats and
stiff cuffs, they enjoy the
dignity of formality with
all the comfort of undrpss.'
