London's Savoy Hotel are
calling Miss Heather Men
zies, daughter of the Austra
lian Prime Minister. j
They have been impressed:
by her natural behaviour
and informality.
Mr. and Mrs. Menzies and
their daughter are staying at!
the Savoy— patronised by
millionaires and diplomats —
during their visit to London
for the Coronation. i
Miss Menzies. in an ordi-'
nary day frock, yesterday!
evening went to the door of;
the hotel munching an apple;
to bid good-bye to her father,
and mother, who were leav-;
ing for the South Austra
lian Government dinner in
honor of the Premier (Mr.1
Playford i.
Autograph hunters be
sieged Mr. and Mrs. Men
zies- and the doorman,
thinking that Miss Men
zies was one of them, held
her and prevented her
from going in her father's
car.
Miss Menzies waved, with
an apple in her hand, and
re-entered the hotel to
change for dinner with Sir
Winston Churchill and his
family at No. 10 Downing
street.
Within an hour she was
sitting down with Sir Win
ston on one side of her and
the Queen's equy.-ry (Gp
Capt. Townsend) on the
other side.
At the table were Sir Win
ston Churchill's daughters
Mary and Sarah, their hus
bands, Mr. ? Christopher
Soames and Mr. Antnqny
Beauchamp. and Sir Win
ston's son, Mr. Randolph
Churchill.
Later, Miss Menzies and
the Churchill family went
to a Coronation ball at the
Albert Hall.
