REBUFF TO
STRIKERS
Work In .Port
Of London
LONDON, Feb. 7: Strike
leaders at dock-gate meetings
today again failed to win the
support of London dockers in
the pay dispute which has
crippled the ports of Liverpool
and Manchester.
Only 350 of London's 27.000
dockers are on strike today. In
Manchester. 130 men returned to
work today, reducing 1o 11,897
the total of dockers now on
strike at Liverpool and Man
chester docks. Eighty-three ships
are idle and 30 undermanned.
The striked denounced by trade
union leaders as a Communist
campaign to sabotage Britain's
arms drive, is a protest against
a trade union acceptance of an
1/ weekly wage increase which
the strikers have called inade
quate. They want an increase of
£1/13/ a week.
