LIKELY
LONDON, Aug. 31: As a re
suit of Surrey's performance against
Leicestershire at The Oval yes
terday it has virtually won a
draw for the county premiership
with Lancashire if the weather
holds good. Rain stopped play
late yesterday and the outlook is
not good for today.
Aided by Alec Bedser. who
skittled eight for 83, Surrey
bundled Leicestershire out for 113.
At one time six wickets fell in 25
minutes for the addition of only
14 runs. Surrey consolidated the
position by scoring 117 for the
loss of only two wickets when rain
caused play to be abandoned for
the day 7# minutes early. Olven
good weather today Surrey should
gain the. necessary 12 Points to
enable it to share the champion
ship.
