LONDON IN
FOG
Trains And Shipping
Held Up
LONDON, Oct. 28: London's
first fog of the autumn dislo
cated transport and delayed
thousands during the rush hour
traffic today. The southern re
gion of the British Railways re
ported the worst traffic hold-up
for about six months.
A goods train was derailed in
thick fog at Hatfield, north of
London, and held up main-line
trains. Shipping in the Thames
Estuary was halted. A small
Dutch vessel going down the
river in the fog last night col
lided with the Battersea Bridge
and became jammed under an
arch. Visibility at the London
airport was reduced to 25yds.
