FOOTBALL
S.A. RUCK
MAN
FOR PERTH
A young West Adelaide ruck
man will arrive at Fremantle to
morrow in the Strathaird with the
intention of finding suitable work
and of playing football for Perth.
He is Reg Zuener, a 21-year-old
follower, who is 6ft. 2in. in
height and weighs 13.7.
How the Perth club managed to
sign on Zuener makes an unusual
story in these days of "traffick
ing." Apparently two close friends
of Zuener decided to come to
W.A. from S.A. and he made up
his mind to -come with them. An
old Perth supporter, Mr. Ted
Jaensch, now living in S.A. in
formed the Perth club of the pro
aosed migration and recently the
Perth president (Mr. P. Tasker)
was able to complete negotiations.
Mr. Tasker was opportunely in
Adelaide to watch his son race
the sharpie, Falcon, in the Aus
tralian championship.
Mr. P. J. Fogarty, the Perth sec
retary, said yesterday that in the
circumstances he felt sure that
Zuener wvould secure his clear
ance. His acquisition would com
pensate for the loss to S.A. of
Tony Carter.
Perth is making a bold bid to
strengthen its side. It has hopes
that the Smith cousins, of Goom
ailing, will be able to play regu
larly and among other country
players it intends to try out are
Hugh Broad (Morawa), F. Strick
land Dangin), H. Perriman
Goldfields) and E. W. Kemp
(Goldfields).
