It would take three
to four years to com
plete the Queen Eliza
beth HosDital at Wnodville.
the Minister of Works (Mr.
Mclntoslu said in the As
sembly yesterday.
This estimate depended
9n the capacity of the vari
ous contractors to complete
the work. .
He was replying to the
Leader of the Opposition
(Mr. O'HaUoran), who
bad asked for details of the
Government's works pro
gramme.
'Mr. Mclntosh gave the
following information:—
Mannnm-Adelaide pipe
line.— It was estimated this
would be finished in 1956.
A total of £5,560,000 had
been spent so far. Sixty per
cent of the work had been
completed at the end of
June, and it was estimated
that £3,400,000 worth of
work remained to be done.
South-East broad gauge
railway.— It was expected
the broad gauge would be
working to StUlicent by
Christmas, 1955, provided
the labor position did not
deteriorate.
Southern Torke Penin
sula water scheme.— Only
11 p.c. of the work had been
completed, ana the esti
mated cost of the remain
ing work was £5,400,000. It
was scheduled to be com
pleted in 1957.
