CANBERRA, Feb. 21.

(Mr. McEwen) said in the
House of Representatives to

Exports of Australian pri
mary products were sub
stantially down.
Wheat exports would be
substantially down from
this harvest
'In earlier days the returns
received for exports were
really dominant in primary
producers' returns,' he
added.
'In the case of products
like cheese, and butter the
price received on the home
market is now dominant.'
Mr. McEwen was replying
to Mr. Bate (Lib. NSW) who
suggested that there was less
need for controls and, subsi
dies.
Mr. McEwen told Mr. Bate
that he would urge on the
Australian Agricultural
Council the 'necessity and
real urgency' of establishing
a method of agricultural ex
tension services in Australia
similar to that in the US.
