LENGTH OF WAR
Prediction Considered Foolish.
LONDON, Oct 2.-The Minister of
Agriculture (Mr R. S. Hudson) said
in a speech yesterday: "The end of
the war is not yet. He would be
a foolish person who would pre
dict whether. he was going to seel
the end in 1942 or 1943 or even
later. There will be an increasing need
for home production. The demand'
on farmers today is great but it will
undoubtedly increase in the next 2
years. I am confident that we can1
meet that, though there will be tre
mendous difficulties. When the US
shipbuilding programme comes into
its full stride next year every ship
that we can free from importing
food will be used for our war ef-,
fort overseas."
