PLANES FOR BRITAIN.
Flowing in Great Numbers.
WASHINGTON, Aug 15.-The
Chief of the US Army Air Force (Lt
General Arnold) said today that Ame
rican Army planes were flowing to
Britain in great numbers. He as
serted that full-scale American par
ticipation in RAF raids on Germany
was just a question of getting the
planes over there and the time to
build up their strength.
He added that American planes,
guns and other equipment were
standardised in every way possible
with those of the British and other
Allies in order to make the United
Nations' air effort most effective.
An All-Negro Squadron.
General Arnold announced that 34
negro pilots had completed their
training and 73 others were engaged
in training for the Army's first all
negro air squadron. The squadron
was an experiment; when its train
ing was completed the Army would
decide whether to create additional
negro squadrons.
