Warning of Counter-attack.
LONDON, Aug 5.-The Rome cor
respondent of the Stockholm "Tid
ningen" reports that Signor Gayda
Mussolini's mouthpiece, has issued a
warning to Italians against over
optimism. He stated that Marshal
Timoshenko has concentrated great
reserves between the Lower Volga,
the Caspian Sea and the Caucusus
and is preparing to give battle within
a few days.
Signor Gayda went on: "Events
during the past weeks do not indi
cate that a decisive Axis victory
may be expected immediately, al
though time is now on the Axis side.
If we cut off the Red Army from the
Caucasion oil and also from Allied
help we will be able to spend an
othehr winter in Russia with in
finitely less4isk than before."
