TO THE EDITCR.
Sir— As the meeting oteoarenoiaeraneia on
thelUih I w&s desirous of asking a question
in regard to tbe Assets Company, but Mr.
Hamilton, one of the linnidatnrs. refused to
answer, Baying aa a liquidator be bad nothing
to do with the Assets Uompsiy. I then
Euggeeted that perhaps one of the members
cf the Assets Company wonld answer me,
but waa ruled out of order by the Chaiimap. -
I afterwards asked one or two questions in {
regard to amounts which I believe the
liquidators bad refused for certain
properties, and to the amounts tint
were placed in tne assets of the Brak.
Mr. Hamilton fenced ons question by stating
that I had no right to trie information I
possessed, therefore admitting that the
knowledge of how a liquidation is condaotsd
ebonld be known only to the chosen few, and
not tha body ot shareholders who are sup
posed to be interested. The other quea
tion Mr. Krichauff answered, and ad
mitted that my statement was correct
that they bad refaeed £1,150 for & ?
property they now consider worth £G00. ;
I have beard that one of the liquidators holds
10,000 shares in the Aaeets Company, and I .
wished to ascertain the truth or otherwise of
the statement; I also wished to have the
amcunt of the tenders made known to the
meeliog, so if they were considered too low
the shareholders rnluht EURgest to the liqui
dators) the advisability of retenderiDg, so
that all shareholders members of the Asaeta
Company and otherB could have ai much aa
possible ont of the wreck. In thia after
noon's paper von publish tbe amount of
the tenders— ' Assets Company' £21,100
and W. L. Ware £21.000. The closa
amount of these tenders is peculiar, and
if these are the amounts that were
contained in tbe original tenders the
liquidators in their own interest shonld have
made it known at tbe meeting. In justice to
all shareholders, whether members of the
Assets Company or cot, I would ask if the
liquidators will state whether the tender
accepted was tbe one sent in originally by
tbe ABsets Compinv ? If not, what waa the
amount of tbe original tender, and why did
they not call for new tenders ? I make no
accusation against the liquidators, but in
their own interest, In the interest of tho
shareholders, and in the interest ol com
mercial morality an explanation 3eoms
necessary.
lam, Sir, &c,
? J. G. JENKINS.
