ALBANIA'S STATUS.
ITALIAN MOVE PREDICTED.
Troops Reported Ready to_ Sail.
LONDON: April 4.--4lthough denied
in Tirana (the Albanian capital). reports
peralst that some Italian action is con
templated affecting the status of Albania.
A communique issued in Tirana last
night denied that Italian troops were
bound for Albania. A subsequent dis
patch from Rome, however. said that

despite .the Albanian denlial an uncn
narmed report stated 20,000 troops were
standing by at the Adriatic -ports of
Brindisi and Bari, with .ransports. Wen
informed persons declared any action
taken would be with the consent of King
Zog of Albania.
The Rome correspondent of "The
Times" in a message early this morning
expres the opinion that Italy may pos
sibly be contemplatIng some form of pro
tectorate over Albania, even taking
virtal posssssion, which for long has
appeared to be her ultimate aim. He
points out Albania's economic position
has lately become worse and the people
are discontented. King, log, he adds,
may have agreed to accept a protector
ate in his own interests.
A semi-olcial statement issued in
Tirana this morning said:-- endentious

are baseless"
